General Cancellation Policy

This cancellation policy applies to bookings with [YOUR BUSINESS NAME] for general work. It explains the notice, fees and refunds if a booking is changed or cancelled.

By booking, the client agrees to this policy. It works alongside any signed service agreement.

  1. 01Notice period

Please give at least [48 HOURS] before the booking to cancel or reschedule.

  2. 02Cancellation fees

Cancel or reschedule with at least [48 HOURS] notice for a refund of any deposit not yet spent. With shorter notice, the deposit may be kept to cover the reserved time and any materials already bought. Once work has begun, you pay for the work done to date.

  3. 03Rescheduling

A booking may be rescheduled once with the notice above, subject to availability. A second change, or a short-notice change, may be treated as a cancellation.

  4. 04No-shows and late cancellations

A no-show, or a cancellation with less than [SHORT NOTICE], is charged in full.

  5. 05If we have to cancel

If [YOUR BUSINESS NAME] has to cancel, the client is offered the next available date or a full refund of any deposit.

  6. 06How to cancel

To cancel or reschedule, contact [YOUR BUSINESS NAME] at [PHONE / EMAIL] as early as you can.

Text in [BRACKETS] is for you to fill in. This policy is a general template, not legal advice. A cancellation policy is most enforceable when the client accepts it before booking, and any mandatory refund or consumer rules depend on your jurisdiction — have it reviewed and make sure clients agree to it up front. Questions

Is this general cancellation policy template free?
Yes. Copy it or download it as a text file — no email, no account, no sign-up.
Do I need a cancellation policy?
It sets expectations and protects your time when a client cancels late. Share it at the time of booking so clients agree to it up front.
Is a cancellation policy legally binding?
It is most enforceable when the client agreed to it before booking — for example, as part of your service agreement. Enforceability and any consumer-protection rules depend on your area. This is general information, not legal advice; have it reviewed.
How do I fill it in?
Replace the [BRACKETS] — your notice windows, fees and refund terms — with your own. The rest is ready to use.
