Hourly Service Agreement

This Hourly Service Agreement ("Agreement") is made on [DATE] between [YOUR BUSINESS NAME] ("Provider") and [CLIENT NAME] ("Client").

This agreement covers services billed hourly as described above. The work, price and any deposit are: [DESCRIBE THE WORK, THE TOTAL PRICE AND ANY DEPOSIT].

The Provider will carry out that work for the Client on the terms below.

  1. 01Scope of work

Covers the services described above. Anything else is quoted separately and agreed in writing before it starts.

  2. 02Payment terms

Payment is due as set out above. Invoices are due within 14 days. Overdue balances may accrue interest at 1.5% per month.

  3. 03Cancellation

Either party may cancel with [NUMBER] days’ notice. Work already done and materials already bought remain payable.

  4. 04Timeline

Dates are good-faith estimates. The provider will tell the client promptly if they need to move.

  5. 05Liability

The provider is responsible for its own work. It is not liable for pre-existing conditions or for delays outside its reasonable control.

  6. 06Changes and disputes

Changes to scope or price must be agreed in writing. Both parties will try to resolve any dispute directly before taking a formal step.

  7. 07Hourly rate and time tracking

Work is billed at [RATE] per hour in [15-MINUTE] increments, with a [1-HOUR] minimum. Time is logged and shared on request; travel and materials are billed as listed.

  8. 08Added work

Work beyond the original request is agreed before it starts. If a task runs longer than estimated, the provider tells the client before continuing past the estimate.

Both parties agree to the terms above.

Questions

Is this hourly service agreement template really free?
Yes. Read it, copy it, or download it as a text file — no email, no account, no sign-up. If you want it signed, you can send it for a mobile e-signature with CloseSign.
Is this a legally binding contract?
It becomes binding once both people agree to it — ideally in writing, with a signature. This template is general information, not legal advice. For anything high-value or unusual, have a professional review it for your situation and jurisdiction.
How do I fill it in?
Replace the text in [BRACKETS] — the business and client names, the work, the price and any deposit — with your own details. Everything else is ready to use as written.
How do I get it signed?
Send the finished document to your client to sign however you like. Or paste the details into CloseSign, and it sends a link your client signs on their phone — you both get a tamper-evident PDF with an audit trail.
